CUMILLA — A Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) union president from Chougachha upazila in Jashore district was killed in a motorcycle crash in Cumilla while returning from a trip to Cox’s Bazar, party officials said.
Abdul Mujid, 55, was killed on the afternoon of Oct. 30 on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway as he and several others were riding motorcycles back to Jashore, officials said.
Mujid was president of the BNP unit in ward 3 of Singhajhuli union in Chougachha upazila and ran a city cable business at Chougachha Bazar.
The group had ridden motorcycles to Cox’s Bazar for a trip and were returning home when Mujid’s motorcycle was involved in the crash in Cumilla, officials said. He died at the scene.
Chougachha upazila BNP president M.A. Salam confirmed the death.
