Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered an abandoned foreign-made pistol and two magazines in Adarsha Sadar upazila of Cumilla.
The weapon and magazines were recovered from the Katak Bazar area of the upazila at around 8am on Tuesday.
According to the BGB, the pistol and the two magazines were found abandoned inside an old plastic sack at Katak Bazar, about 400 yards inside Bangladesh from the zero line of the border.
The BGB said steps were under way to file an arms case with Kotwali Model Police Station and hand over the recovered items. Intelligence work is continuing to identify those involved, it said.
“The BGB is playing a firm role in protecting the border, curbing crime and preventing all kinds of illegal activity,” said Lieutenant Colonel Mir Ali Ejaz, commanding officer of the BGB’s 10 Battalion in Cumilla.
