The government has promoted Ahsan Habib, acting chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), to the rank of secretary and appointed him secretary of the Internal Resources Division and chairman of the NBR.
This was announced in a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Monday (26 October) and signed by a deputy secretary.
The notification says Ahsan Habib is currently serving as acting secretary of the Internal Resources Division and acting chairman of the National Board of Revenue. He has been appointed on deputation as secretary of the Internal Resources Division and chairman of the National Board of Revenue under the president’s 10 percent quota.
It also says he must return to his own cadre before retirement. The order, issued in the public interest, takes effect immediately.
Ahsan Habib is an officer of the 15th batch of the BCS (Taxation) cadre and came first in his batch in the BCS examination.
He also came first in the first class at the Department of Geology of Dhaka University.
During his career he has served as a member of the NBR and as director general of its Central Intelligence Cell (CIC).
