8 die of measles symptoms in 24 hours, 1,132 infected

Bangladesh’s measles situation remains a cause for concern. Eight more children have died of measles symptoms in the past 24 hours. During the same period, 1,132 children were infected with measles or measles symptoms.

The information was released Monday in a press statement from the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services.

By division, in the past 24 hours, 524 people were hospitalised in Dhaka division, 23 in Rajshahi, 150 in Sylhet, 278 in Chattogram, 131 in Barishal, 57 in Mymensingh, 88 in Khulna, and 26 in Rangpur.

According to the health directorate, a total of 152,117 patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country with measles symptoms since March 15 this year. Of them, 146,400 have received treatment and left hospital.

Since March 15, the number of suspected measles patients nationwide has reached 172,720. Of them, 20,124 have been confirmed measles cases.
