Three more people died of suspected measles nationwide in the past 24 hours, bringing the total measles and suspected-measles death toll since March 15 this year to 997. An additional 1,216 new measles and suspected-measles cases were recorded over the same period.
The figures were released Monday (Sept. 7) in the Directorate General of Health Services’ regular measles bulletin. The health directorate said two of the latest deaths occurred in Dhaka division and one in Khulna division, all from suspected measles in the past 24 hours.
That brings the nationwide death toll from measles and suspected measles between March 15 and Monday to 997, including 897 from suspected measles and 100 confirmed measles deaths.
Nationwide, 60 new confirmed measles cases were recorded in the past 24 hours, along with 1,156 more suspected cases. That brings total suspected-measles cases since March 15 to 165,304, with a total of 19,756 confirmed measles cases over the same period.
According to the health directorate’s report, a total of 145,270 people have been hospitalized nationwide with measles or suspected measles since March 15. Of them, 139,831 have since recovered and been discharged.
