The Praholadpur union unit of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir’s Sreepur upazila chapter honoured 80 students who achieved GPA-5 in the SSC and Dakhil examinations, in Sreepur, Gazipur.
Honorary crests and gifts were presented to the top students at the event, held around 11am Saturday (September 12).
The event was chaired by Fazlul Karim Shahadat, president of Chhatra Shibir’s Sadar East thana unit. The chief guest was Erfanul Haque Sakib, former president of Chhatra Shibir’s Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) unit.
In his address as chief guest, Erfanul said: “Students are the future helmsmen of the nation and the country. Achieving good results in exams alone is not enough — they must build themselves through a combination of knowledge, ethics and humane values.”
Calling on the meritorious students to put their achievements to use for the welfare of the country and its people, he said: “A vast door of possibility is open before today’s generation of students. Through hard work, perseverance, honesty and discipline, they can secure a bright future for themselves while also moving the country forward.”
He further said: “Alongside making proper use of their time and focusing on their studies, students must also give importance to building ethical character. A nation’s true development does not depend on infrastructure alone; rather, an educated, skilled and ethical generation is a nation’s core strength. Today’s meritorious students must prepare themselves to be capable of leading the country and society in the future.”
