Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized Indian smuggled goods worth 1,522,590 taka in separate operations along the Jashore border.
Acting on secret information Friday (Sept. 4, 2026), a special patrol team from the Jashore Battalion (49 BGB) and a patrol team from the Benapole Checkpost (ICP) carried out anti-smuggling operations in the border area.
The operations recovered 138 Indian saris, 82 yards of denim fabric, 69 packets of fuchka mix, 4.5 kilograms of raisins, 165 chocolates and 427 pieces of assorted cosmetics.
49 BGB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Golam Mohammad Saiful Alam Khan, PSC, said the BGB has stepped up special planning and intelligence surveillance to curb drug trafficking and smuggling in the border area.
These operations are being carried out as part of that ongoing effort, he said.
He said anti-smuggling operations and surveillance along the border would continue in the future.
