DAB will keep standing by people with humane commitment, Zubaida Rahman says

Dr Zubaida Rahman, wife of Prime Minister Tareque Rahman, has said she believes the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB), holding to tradition, professional capability and humane commitment, will play an important role in future in the welfare of doctors, improving the quality of healthcare and standing by the people.

The Doctors Association of Bangladesh is a shining example of the humanity and professional excellence of the country’s medical community, said Dr Zubaida Rahman, vice-president of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation.

She made the remarks as special guest at a doctors’ rally held on Saturday at the LD Hall grounds of the National Parliament building to mark DAB’s 37th founding anniversary.

At the start of her speech, Dr Zubaida Rahman paid respectful tribute to the late president Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia, and extended sincere greetings to all DAB members and the country’s medical community.

Dr Zubaida Rahman said: “I believe the Doctors Association of Bangladesh is a shining example of the humanity and professional excellence of the country’s medical community.”

She said she believed that, holding to tradition, professional capability and humane commitment, DAB would in future too play an important role in the welfare of doctors, improving healthcare quality and standing by the people.

Dr Zubaida Rahman thanked all members of the organisation for inviting her to DAB’s 37th-anniversary event and wished the anniversary’s various programmes every success.

Earlier in the morning, Prime Minister Tareque Rahman and Dr Zubaida Rahman planted neem and arjun saplings at the LD Hall grounds of the National Parliament building. They then formally inaugurated the doctors’ rally by hoisting the national and party flags and releasing balloons and pigeons.

Leaders, activists and doctors of DAB from various parts of the country took part in the rally held to mark its 37th founding anniversary.

Prime Minister Tareque Rahman was present as chief guest at the event, chaired by DAB president Professor Dr Harun Al Rashid. Special guests included Dr Zubaida Rahman; Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir; Social Welfare Minister Dr A Z M Zahid Hossen; Health Minister Md Sakhawat Hossen; and officials at various levels of the government.
