A Swechchhasebak Dal leader in Dinajpur’s Nawabganj, Osman Goni Babu, has had his party post suspended over allegations of violating party discipline and sheltering a drug dealer. The decision was announced in a press release on Friday, signed by Nawabganj upazila Swechchhasebak Dal convener Sajjad Al Mamun and member secretary Anwar Hossain.
Osman Goni had been serving as joint convener of Nawabganj upazila’s Ward 6 Bhaduria union Swechchhasebak Dal. The notice said his primary membership, along with all his posts within the party, would remain suspended until further notice.
Confirming the matter, Nawabganj upazila Swechchhasebak Dal convener Sajjad Al Mamun said: “There is no place in Swechchhasebak Dal for wrongdoers, those who damage the party’s reputation, or those who shelter drug dealers.”
