Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami leaders have demanded that the government increase development allocations for constituencies represented by opposition lawmakers. They accused the government of failing to value the sacrifices that brought it to power, saying the mandate of the popular vote is not being implemented and the government has taken a position against the people.
The remarks were made at the closing session of a two-day leadership training camp organized by the Hatirjheel zone of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Dhaka Metropolitan North chapter, held Friday at Al-Falah Auditorium in Mogbazar.
Speakers said the government has failed to resolve the electricity and gas crisis or meet public expectations. They said the public is increasingly frustrated by extortion and looting, and called on the government to take immediate and effective steps.
The two-day camp, held Thursday and Friday, was attended by officials at the thana and ward levels.
The event was chaired by zonal director Hemayat Hossain and moderated by assistant zonal director Ataur Rahman Sarkar. The chief guest was Professor Mujibur Rahman, a Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Amir and member of parliament.
Special guests included Assistant Secretary General Mawlana ATM Masum; central executive council members Saiful Alam Khan Milon MP, Abdur Rob, and Advocate Matiur Rahman Akanda; Dhaka Metropolitan North Amir Mohammad Selim Uddin; Secretary Dr. Muhammad Rezaul Karim; central working council members Zahidur Rahman and Dr. Mawlana Abdus Samad; and central Majlis-e-Shura member Dr. Mawlana Abul Kalam Azad Bashar.
The camp included topical discussions, aptitude assessments, group discussions, Quranic and Hadith sessions, and other programs.
