Dhaka University authorities have taken disciplinary action against 64 students for cheating and other offences in various examinations. A list published by the office of the controller of examinations on September 7 gives each student’s name, registration number, session, roll number, department, hall and the type of punishment. The punishments were handed down based on an August 31 order from the university’s syndicate meeting and a decision of the disciplinary board held on August 20. The list includes students who sat various undergraduate, postgraduate, professional and medical examinations.

According to the exam controller’s office document, “Exam+1” means disqualification from the exam in which the offence occurred, plus a ban from the next exam; “Exam+2” means a ban from the next two exams; and “Exam+3” means a ban from the next three exams. The document also states that punished students may appeal to the vice-chancellor to have their punishment reduced.
