Kotchandpur hotel worker, woman held with yaba

An anti-drug operation in Jhenaidah’s Kotchandpur detained an employee of Momota Hotel and a woman said to be a trader, both found carrying yaba. Legal action was later taken against them through a mobile court.

According to police and local sources, police received information about drug activity linked to Momota Hotel in the main bazaar of Kotchandpur municipal area. A raid was carried out, during which a hotel employee was detained; police said five yaba tablets were recovered from him. A woman trader was also detained during the raid on suspicion of drug involvement.

A mobile court was then convened against the detained individuals under existing law. After the hearing, the court ordered jail terms and fines based on the nature of the offences, and further legal proceedings have followed the court’s order. Kotchandpur police station said regular operations are being carried out to eliminate drugs, and that immediate legal action would be taken on receiving any drug-related information.
