Three law officers at the Attorney General’s office have resigned. Citing personal reasons, they submitted their resignation letters to the office’s administrative officer on Monday (Sept. 7).
The three law officers who resigned are Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Mamun Chowdhury, and Assistant Attorneys General (AAG) Rohani Siddika and Projjwal Chakma.
Earlier, Assistant Attorney General Md. Nurul Karim had resigned, submitting his resignation letter to the law minister after facing allegations of ties to Awami League politics.
Before that, in June, seven Jamaat-backed deputy attorneys general and 11 assistant attorneys general had jointly submitted resignation letters in protest of a government decision. Deputy Attorney General Tariqul Islam, one of the officials who resigned at the time, confirmed to media that they had resigned jointly in protest of the government’s failure to implement the July charter, and its decisions to scrap the Supreme Court Secretariat appointment ordinance and the ordinance on appointing Supreme Court judges.
