Government names new secretaries at 4 ministries and departments

The government has appointed new secretaries at four ministries and departments, promoting three additional secretaries to the rank of secretary in the process.

Separate notifications on the appointments were issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Wednesday.

Under the notifications, Yasmin Begum, additional secretary at the Cabinet Division, has been promoted and appointed secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.

A K M Benjamin Riazi, additional secretary at the Ministry of Industries, has been appointed to the Health Education and Family Welfare Division, while Dr A N M Bazlur Rashid, an additional secretary attached to the Ministry of Public Administration, has been appointed secretary of the Health Services Division.

Meanwhile, Md Ehsanul Haque, contractual senior secretary at the Ministry of Public Administration, has been transferred to the post of member (senior secretary) at the Planning Commission. He is being replaced by Md Kamruzzaman Chowdhury, contractual secretary of the Health Services Division, who has been made contractual secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration.

Separately, Kaniz Mawla, secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, has been attached to the Ministry of Public Administration pending further posting.

In another notification, Nasreen Jahan, member (secretary) of the Planning Commission’s Socio-Economic Infrastructure Division, has been sent into retirement upon completing her tenure of government service.

She will retire from government service effective Sept. 5. She has simultaneously been granted post-retirement leave (PRL) for the following year.

The notifications stated that the orders, issued in the public interest, would take effect immediately.
