Six more children died of measles symptoms nationwide in the past 24 hours. This brings this year’s confirmed measles deaths to 100, with a further 936 children dying with measles symptoms. Altogether, deaths from measles and its symptoms have reached 1,036.
The information was released Tuesday in the Directorate General of Health Services’ regular health bulletin. It said four people died with measles symptoms in Dhaka alone in the 24 hours from 8am Monday. During this period, 1,316 new patients were admitted to hospitals nationwide with measles and its symptoms.
By division, in the past 24 hours, 484 people were hospitalised in Dhaka division, 30 in Rajshahi, 197 in Sylhet, 281 in Chattogram, 125 in Barishal, 82 in Mymensingh, 98 in Khulna, and 19 in Rangpur.
According to the health directorate, a total of 153,279 patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country with measles symptoms since March 15 this year. Of them, 147,386 have received treatment and left hospital.
Since March 15, the number of suspected measles patients nationwide has reached 173,959. Of them, 20,201 have been confirmed measles cases.
