Priyanka Chopra moved from Bollywood to Hollywood long ago and now spends most of her time there. She will be seen in a Bollywood film after almost eight years. There had been earlier signs that her return could be something on a large scale. With most of the shooting done, the “desi girl” has suddenly set foot in her own country. She arrived in India with her husband, Nick Jonas, and their daughter, Malti Marie.
A video of them leaving the airport spread on social media on Sunday. Priyanka has not, however, said anything officially about the Hyderabad trip.
Several Indian media reports said she had come to India to take part in the shooting of the much-awaited film “Varanasi,” directed by S S Rajamouli.
At the airport Priyanka was seen in a dark brown co-ord set with an off-shoulder top, a beige cap, black sunglasses and brown flat shoes. Nick Jonas was in all black — a black shirt and trousers with check-design sneakers and sunglasses. Nick was seen leaving the airport carrying their daughter, Malti Marie.
With “Varanasi,” Priyanka Chopra is returning to Indian-language cinema after a long break. She last acted in “The Sky Is Pink,” released in 2019.
The first look of her character in the film, “Mandakini,” was released this month to mark Priyanka’s birthday. The poster shows the actor in black clothes with a gun in her hand and an intense expression.
The film’s name was first announced at the “Globetrotter” event held in Hyderabad on 15 November 2025. Special footage was shown to the guests present. The glimpse was later released worldwide on 18 July, Priyanka’s birthday.
Mahesh Babu plays the lead alongside Priyanka in the Rajamouli film. It is planned for release in cinemas on 7 April 2027.
Priyanka said recently on the “Hey Jonas” podcast that Nick Jonas often knows more about Bollywood gossip than she does. Laughing, she said: “Nick knows so much news that I do not know myself. Once I asked him to send my greetings to someone, and he said, no, they have broken up.”
Nick also admitted that he regularly follows several Bollywood gossip accounts, though he did not name them.
Priyanka and Nick first met on social media in 2016. They were first seen together in public at the 2017 Met Gala. After marrying in 2018, the star couple became parents to their daughter, Malti Marie, through surrogacy in January 2022. Source: NDTV
