The current government will not resort to crossfire killings to suppress terrorism, law minister Md Asaduzzaman has said.
He made the comment at an exchange-of-views meeting with administrative officials and leaders of various political and social organisations at the Khulna deputy commissioner’s conference room at 11am Monday.
The law minister said the government will not resort to crossfire to suppress terrorism, and that existing laws will be strengthened further where necessary.
He also said drugs are being deliberately pushed in from a neighbouring country. Yaba traffickers sitting across the border are planning operations, and drugs are being delivered to various locations by drone. Drugs are no longer just Khulna’s problem, he said, which is why greater emphasis is now being placed on dope testing nationwide.
The meeting was attended by national parliament whip Rakibul Islam Bakul, MPs from various Khulna constituencies, the divisional commissioner, range DIG, superintendent of police, KCC and district council administrators, and leaders of various political and social organisations.
