Parliament’s Standing Committee on the Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to send the “Armed Police Battalion (APBN) Bill, 2026” to parliament. The decision was made at the committee’s third meeting on Sunday (Sept. 6).
The information was shared in a press release signed by Tanzina Tanin, assistant director of Public Relations Wing-1 at the National Parliament Secretariat.
The release said the third meeting of the 13th National Parliament’s Standing Committee on the Ministry of Home Affairs, chaired by committee chairman Zainul Abedin, was held at the National Parliament building. The meeting held detailed discussions on examining and reporting on the “Armed Police Battalion (APBN) Bill, 2026.” Following the discussion, it was decided to send the bill to parliament.
At the meeting, the chairman thanked opposition lawmakers for their valuable input and cooperation, and also extended thanks to everyone involved in the bill’s preparation, the release said.
Also present at the meeting were committee member and Home Affairs Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives State Minister Mir Shahe Alam, National Parliament Whip Rakibul Islam, Md. Kamruzzaman, Md. Monowar Hossain, Shirin Sultana, Md. Nurul Islam and Md. Abdul Baten.
The meeting was also attended by the senior secretary of the Home Ministry, the inspector general of police, directors general of departments under the Home Ministry, senior officials, heads of relevant agencies, and officials of the National Parliament Secretariat.
