Professor Dr. Mohammad Nazmuzzaman Bhuiyan, newly appointed chairman of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC), has been sworn in. Chief Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury administered the oath to him Sunday afternoon at the Judges’ Lounge of the Supreme Court.
Other PSC members, the secretary of the commission secretariat, and relevant officials were present at the oath-taking ceremony.
Earlier, a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration last Wednesday appointed Professor Dr. Mohammad Nazmuzzaman Bhuiyan as chairman of the PSC.
The notification said the president, exercising powers under Article 138(1) of the constitution, appointed Professor Mohammad Nazmuzzaman Bhuiyan as chairman of the PSC in the public interest.
It further said that, under Article 139(1) of the constitution, he will hold the post for five years from the date he assumes office, or until he turns 65, whichever comes first.
