Body of speech-impaired teen recovered from canal in Lalmohan

Police recovered the body of Md. Farhad, 14, a speech-impaired teenager, from a canal in Lalmohan upazila, Bhola, after he went missing. His body was recovered Monday (Sept. 7) afternoon from a canal on the eastern side of the embankment in Ward No. 6 of the upazila’s Lord Hardinge union.

Farhad was the son of Md. Bashir Uddin of Bhuiyar Hat area, Ward No. 7, Omarpur union, in the neighboring Charfasson upazila.

According to police and local sources, locals spotted a body floating in the canal water near the embankment in Lord Hardinge union around midday Monday. Lalmohan police were immediately notified and recovered the body of the teenager from the water at the scene. He was later identified.

Md. Nazrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Lalmohan police station, said police recovered the body from the scene after being notified. He said an inquest report is being prepared and the body is being sent for autopsy to the morgue at Bhola Sadar Hospital to determine the exact cause of death, with the necessary legal steps being taken.
