A protest and human chain were held in Rajbari on Tuesday (September 1) against the public use of obscene language toward a woman and her physical assault in a local market. The programme was organised by the Rajbari district branch of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad.
Chaired by district vice-president Shahina Sultana, speakers at the event included organisation member and former secondary district education officer Azija Khanam, Mahila Parishad member and lawyer Nazma Khatun, and member Krishna Chakraborty. Speakers said that publicly assaulting a woman this way amounts to an extreme insult to a mother, and that they do not want to see such incidents happen again. They demanded the immediate arrest of the men who attacked the woman.
