Police in Gouripur, Mymensingh, have seized 355 kilograms of illegally hoarded fertiliser from the warehouse of a Jubo League leader.

The fertiliser was seized Sunday afternoon from the godown of trader and Jubo League leader Rafiqul Islam Sujon, 45, at Paluhati Bazar in the upazila. Sujon is general secretary of ward 9 Jubo League in Achintapur union. He is the son of the late Wahed Ali of Paluhati village.

Acting on information from the national intelligence agency, Gouripur police station carried out the raid at Paluhati Bazar under the leadership of upazila executive officer Ms Afia Amin Pappa.

The upazila executive officer said the raid was carried out in the presence of locals after receiving word of illegal fertiliser hoarding, with upazila agriculture officer (in-charge) Kawsar Ahmed accompanying Gouripur police station.

Jubo League leader Sujon learned of the raid beforehand and fled after locking the godown.
