Government working on rural development as promised, LGRD minister says

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the elected government is working on rural development as promised.

He made the remarks Monday morning (July 6) at an event marking International Rural Development Day and the 47th founding anniversary of CIRDAP at the CIRDAP auditorium in Dhaka.

The LGRD minister said rural development is one of the government’s top priorities and the elected government is delivering on its commitments.

Highlighting the government’s focus on inclusive development, he said programs including the family card and other initiatives are helping marginalized communities in rural areas. The government is committed to the development of rural communities, he said.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir noted that CIRDAP has been working on rural development for five decades. He praised the organization’s work on grassroots entrepreneurship and climate change response as commendable.
