Two Cumilla colleges again top the list for cheating in the National University’s 2024 Honours third-year examinations. The two colleges are Cumilla Victoria College and Cumilla Government Women’s College. Ten students at each college received punishments of varying duration. In total, 287 examinees have been punished over various irregularities, receiving cancellation of that year’s exam and other penalties under the rules.
The information comes from the published minutes of a National University Examination Discipline Committee meeting on Sunday, August 30.
According to the notice, Netrokona Government College ranks after the two Cumilla colleges, with nine examinees on its list. They too received cancellation of that year’s exam and other penalties under the rules, based on various allegations.
It states that a meeting of the Examination Discipline Committee was held at noon on August 11, chaired by National University Vice Chancellor and committee chairman Prof Dr A S M Amanullah in his meeting room, to decide on allegations brought by officers-in-charge, examiners, invigilators and chief examiners from various college centers regarding the 2024 Honours third-year examination.
Committee members were present at the meeting.
The chairman welcomed the members present and discussed the items on the meeting’s agenda. Following detailed discussion, these decisions were made unanimously. Allegations brought by officers-in-charge, examiners, invigilators and chief examiners from various college centers in the 2024 Honours third-year examination were presented and discussed in detail, including allegations against absent examinees, along with answer scripts, responses to show-cause notices, and evidence of cheating.
The meeting decided that after thoroughly examining and discussing the relevant examination answer scripts, responses to show-cause notices, and evidence gathered against the accused examinees, penalties would be imposed on the accused examinees under various provisions, in accordance with National University examination regulations.
