Five die of dengue in 24 hours

Five people have died of dengue across the country in the past 24 hours. Over the same period, 124 dengue patients were hospitalised.

The figures were given in a notice on Monday from the Directorate General of Health Services’ Health Emergency Operations Centre and Control Room.

According to the notice, of those newly infected in the past 24 hours (from 8am Sunday to 8am Monday), 37 were in Barishal division (outside the city corporation), 28 in Chattogram division, 2 in Dhaka division, 16 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 17 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 14 in Khulna division, 2 in Mymensingh division and eight in Rajshahi division.

In the past 24 hours, 100 dengue patients recovered and left hospital. So far this year, a total of 5,455 patients have been discharged.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services, of the five people who died in the past 24 hours, two were men and three were women.

So far this year, 18 people have died of dengue, of whom 10 were men and eight were women.
