Tree saplings were distributed among students in Netrokona’s Madan upazila as part of the government’s five-year nationwide tree plantation program. The upazila administration organized the event Saturday morning at the upazila parishad grounds.

Netrokona Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Khandaker Mushfiqur Rahman attended as chief guest and handed saplings to students.

In his remarks as chief guest, the deputy commissioner said there is no alternative to tree planting for preserving environmental balance and countering the harmful effects of climate change. He said the saplings were being distributed among students to help raise a generation that loves trees.

Those present at the event included Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nadir Hossain Shamim, Madan police station officer-in-charge Mohammad Salauddin Karim, project implementation officer Humayun Kabir, along with officials from various upazila offices, teachers, students and local dignitaries. After the discussion, the guests planted various fruit, timber and medicinal tree saplings on the upazila parishad grounds.
