Chuadanga: The social organisation Chuadanga Volunteers has distributed sewing machines to underprivileged and low-income people of Chuadanga district in a bid to make them economically self-reliant. The programme was held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the organisation’s head office under its self-reliance initiative.
The group’s founder and president, Md Aslam Hossain, and its general secretary, Roni Biswas, handed new Singer sewing machines to working-age women from low-income households. The organisation said the machines would give the recipient families a sustainable path to a permanent livelihood and economic self-reliance.
“We do not believe only in handing out temporary relief or aid; our main goal is to help a person stand on their own feet. This sewing machine will work as a tool for a family’s economic freedom,” Hossain said at the event.
General Secretary Roni Biswas said the organisation would continue such self-reliance and humanitarian work for disadvantaged people in Chuadanga. “We are determined to build Chuadanga into a model, self-reliant district by working with young people,” he said.
Chuadanga Volunteers also runs five other programmes, including a debate club, an IT team, a blood centre, a mental-health initiative and a leadership programme aimed at developing future leaders, the organisation said.
