Four people, including a husband and wife, died in separate electrocution incidents in Chuadanga.
The incidents occurred at various locations in the district’s Damurhuda and Sadar upazilas between Tuesday morning and afternoon.
At midday, farmer Liton Ali was electrocuted while using an electric machine to cut grass for cattle feed in Kaliabokri village, Damurhuda upazila. His wife, Lipa Khatun, was also electrocuted while trying to rescue him. Locals took the two, critically injured, to Damurhuda Upazila Health Complex, where the emergency department doctor pronounced them dead.
Earlier that day, Nasir Uddin was electrocuted while charging his battery-run easy-bike in Alukdia village, Chuadanga Sadar upazila. Family members rescued him and took him to the emergency department of Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. Nasir Uddin was the son of Gias Uddin of Alukdia village.
Separately, a young man named Shafiqul Islam was electrocuted and died on the spot early Tuesday morning while allegedly attempting to steal an electric motor from a tube well in Loknathpur village, Damurhuda upazila. He was the son of the late Sirajul Islam of Shantipara in Darshana municipal area.
Officers-in-charge of the Damurhuda and Chuadanga Sadar Model police stations said legal proceedings are under way in each of the separate incidents.
