Man shot dead in Khulna’s Daulatpur

A young man named Jalil Munshi was shot dead in Daulatpur, Khulna.

The incident occurred around 8:30am Saturday (September 12) near the Kulibagan banyan tree in the thana area.

Jalil, a jute mill worker, was the son of Dilu Munshi of Sadhu Bagan in the same area.

Police said Jalil’s father runs a betel-leaf shop in the Kulibagan area. He left home around 7:45am with another young man to go there. Shortly after, his mobile phone rang, and an argument took place over the call.

Just a few yards from the banyan tree, he was approached by three men who arrived on a motorcycle. At one point, one of the men fired two shots at him. The bullets struck the right side of his chest and the left side of his back.

Local residents rescued him and took him to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Police recovered a live round from the scene.

Khulna Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (North) Sudarshan Kumar Roy said: “We visited the scene after receiving the news. We are trying to determine why this killing happened and who was involved.”
