Prime Minister Tareque Rahman visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka to see Captain Mohiuddin, who was injured in an accident during the army’s field firing exercise in Hathazari.
The prime minister arrived at CMH around 2:45pm Friday (September 11) and inquired about the condition of the injured army officer.
The accident occurred earlier, on Wednesday (September 9), during an army field firing exercise at the Hathazari field firing range in Chattogram, when a shell discharge from a tank went wrong. Captain Mohiuddin was seriously injured in the incident. Two soldiers were killed in the same accident.
After the accident, the injured Captain Mohiuddin was quickly rescued and given first aid. He was later taken by helicopter to the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka for advanced treatment.
The two soldiers killed were Tasnim Rifat of Damkura union, Paba upazila, Rajshahi, and Abu Bakr Siddique Piash of ward 8, Sundalpur union, Kabirhat upazila, Noakhali.
Authorities have launched an investigation into what caused the accident during the tank firing exercise. Efforts are ongoing to determine the actual cause of the incident.
