A majority of people in Israel believe that Iran has grown stronger after the war and the subsequent agreement with the United States, a recently published opinion poll has found.

The poll was conducted jointly by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Agam Institute between June 17 and 20 among 3,644 respondents. Published on Sunday, its findings present a clear picture of intense dissatisfaction and anxiety among the Israeli public following the US-Iran agreement.

Of those surveyed, 92.1 percent said Iran had won the conflict or benefited more from it. On the other hand, 82.9 percent of respondents believe that Israel’s long-term security has, as a result, been weakened.

The poll also found that even among voters of the right-wing bloc — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s main electoral base — 93.1 percent believe Iran won the war.

Widespread opposition to the agreement between the United States and Iran was evident among the Israeli public. Of those who took part in the poll, 63.2 percent opposed the agreement, while only 12.1 percent expressed support for it.
