The next presidential election will be held after Article 70 of the constitution is amended, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said. He made the comment while speaking with reporters on Thursday, August 20.
The home minister said the presidential election is being held constitutionally for the first time in 35 years, with a candidate from the opposition as well. He said elections should be held this way.
He added that people would see the democratic practice they have been expecting.
Salahuddin Ahmed said the opposition has not yet joined the committee working on constitutional amendments.
He said the next presidential election will be held in accordance with the amended Article 70.
