The Directorate of Madrasah Education has issued show-cause notices to eight teachers and officials — including superintendents and a principal — at five private madrasas, and has temporarily suspended their salaries and allowances. The notices ask why their pay should not be permanently stopped.
The directorate announced the action in a notice signed Wednesday (Sept. 2). The notice said the teachers and officials face serious allegations, including forging signatures and letters, forming fake recruitment boards to prepare results sheets, and drawing government salaries for years using the bank accounts and index numbers of deceased teachers.
Those issued show-cause notices are: Md. Jahangir Alam, superintendent of Nijbalail Islamia Dakhil Madrasah in Sariakandi upazila, Bogura; Md. Mohiuddin, assistant teacher at Bhela Omoria Islamia Dakhil Madrasah in Tazumuddin upazila, Bhola; and Md. Iskander Mirza, superintendent of Sonaripara Meem Cheen Girls’ Dakhil Madrasah in Chilmari upazila, Kurigram. Also notified were Md. Aftab Uddin, superintendent of Moskipur Dwimukhi Dakhil Madrasah in Atrai upazila, Naogaon, along with assistant moulvis Md. Joharul Islam and Md. Akhtar Hossain; and Md. Abdur Razzak, principal of Haravanga D.H. Fazil Madrasah in Gangni upazila, Meherpur, along with assistant moulvi Shamsia Khatun.
The notice asks those named to explain the allegations, and also to respond on why their salaries and allowances should not be permanently suspended.
