Dhaka University (DU) will observe its “Black Day” on August 23. The DU administration has announced various programs to mark the day. The day is observed every year in memory of the inhumane, painful and condemnable events that took place against DU’s students, teachers, officials, staff and the wider university community from August 20-23, 2007.
The information was disclosed in a press release from DU’s Public Relations Office on Friday, August 21. Under the program, teachers, students, officials and staff of the university will wear black badges on Sunday, August 23. In addition, a discussion session will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Teacher-Student Centre auditorium, chaired by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. A B M Obaidul Islam. Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Abdus Salam, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Mohammad Almojaddedi Alfesani, and Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury will attend the session as guests of honor.
