BNP Standing Committee member and prime ministerial adviser Nazrul Islam Khan has said the country endured 17 years of autocracy in the name of democracy, and that clearing away 17 years of accumulated problems will take time. He appealed to the public for patience.
He made the comment at a memorial event held in the capital on Thursday, August 27, marking the 11th death anniversary of former prime minister and former Jatiya Party chairman Kazi Zafar Ahmed.
Noting that the government will stand by those who voted BNP into power, Nazrul Islam Khan said six months is not enough time to run a state. He called on the opposition to come forward in a spirit of cooperation.
The prime minister’s adviser said the programs the government has undertaken will be implemented on schedule. He said the government is running the country by its own rules, and invited the public to offer the government any advice they may have.
