U.S. pop star Ariana Grande has issued a strong warning to the Trump administration not to use her song to promote its policies.

This week, a video about the country’s immigration policy was posted from the White House’s official TikTok account. The video showed federal agents arresting and handcuffing people, with Grande’s popular 2024 song “Bye” used as background music.

The Grammy-winning singer expressed her anger in a comment under the video. On Thursday (June 11), she wrote in the comments: “Please never associate my music with this barbaric, inhumane and despicable cruelty.”

A source close to the singer said her legal team was examining legal and technical ways to have the song removed from the video as quickly as possible.

After Grande’s comment, White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson hit back sharply. She said: “We will say this one last time: the truly barbaric, inhumane and despicable thing is the criminal illegal aliens who have injured and killed innocent American citizens.”

This is not the first time Grande has clashed politically with the Trump administration. Last year, too, she sharply criticized it. At the time, she shared a post on Instagram asking Trump’s voters whether their quality of life had improved at all since Donald Trump returned to power.

President Donald Trump, now governing in his second term, is highly active on social media. Members of his communication team often make short videos using popular songs in the background to portray the fulfillment of Trump’s campaign promises.

Earlier, popular hit songs were also used in videos depicting Trump’s immigration crackdown, U.S. military action against Iran and events such as the arrest of former Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro.
