Leader of the Opposition and Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has sharply criticized Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed for speaking condescendingly in parliament and for what he called a mindset of considering himself a teacher. He said: “He has shown the audacity to play the role of a teacher in parliament. We did not come here to be his students.”
He made the remarks Thursday while speaking on the first day of the third session of the 13th National Parliament. Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed presided over the session.
Speaking with respect toward the home minister, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said he was not using these words for the first time today; rather, the home minister has been speaking condescendingly to everyone since the day the parliamentary session began. The Leader of the Opposition remarked that it was hard to understand what the home minister thinks of himself.
