BNP Standing Committee member and the prime minister’s political adviser, Mirza Abbas, is returning home after more than five and a half months of medical treatment in Singapore and Malaysia. He is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at 9 p.m. this coming Wednesday.
BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan disclosed the information Sunday. He said Dhaka-8 constituency MP Mirza Abbas has now largely recovered. He is returning home from Malaysia on the advice of his medical board.
Mirza Abbas suddenly fell ill and lost consciousness on March 11. As his condition did not improve, he was admitted that same night to Evercare Hospital in the capital, where he underwent brain surgery.
He was later flown to Singapore by air ambulance on March 15 for advanced treatment. After treatment in Singapore, he was taken to Malaysia for specialized care and rehabilitation. He has remained under treatment there since.
