Distinguished journalist and senior National Press Club member Syed Golam Batul Kazim Reza, a recipient of the prestigious Phillips Award, has died. He was 68.
He died Wednesday afternoon at around 3:30 p.m. at Bangladesh Medical University (formerly PG Hospital) in the capital.
His elder brother, Syed Musa Reza, senior sub-editor at Naya Diganta, said the first funeral prayers for the late journalist would be held at the Press Club after Maghrib prayers Wednesday. A second funeral prayer would follow that evening at Kadamtala in Basabo, in the capital, where he would be buried beside his wife.
Syed Golam Batul Kazim Reza was the son of Syed Mohammad Musa Kazim Nuri, a prominent educator from Atia village in Tangail’s Delduar upazila, and Syeda Sayeda Banu, the first female teacher in Chandpur. He is survived by two daughters. He was most recently employed at the Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).
