Woman’s half-decomposed body found four days after going missing in Sakhipur

Police have recovered the half-decomposed body of a woman, Juleka, 55, four days after she went missing in Sakhipur, Tangail. The body was recovered from a forest in Shirirchala Modhyapara, in the upazila, Sunday afternoon, August 23.

The victim, Juleka, was the wife of Mozaffar Ali of the same village.

Her son, Zakir Hossain, said: “My mother had been missing since Thursday afternoon. She had been suffering from mental health problems for the past five years. She had gone missing several times before as well.”

Local residents said they informed police after spotting the half-decomposed body lying in the forest on Sunday. Police then went to the scene and recovered the body.

Murad Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sakhipur police station, said: “The body has been recovered and sent to Tangail Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Various police units are working to determine whether this was a killing or something else.”
