The National Committee for Observance of the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances has begun a march toward the national parliament to mark the occasion. Demanding trials for those involved in enforced disappearances and killings, the march began at 3:45 p.m. Sunday after a gathering in front of the Saudia Trade Center in the capital’s Bangla Motor, which started at 3 p.m. Retired Brigadier General Hasinur Rahman Bir Protik, joint convener of the national committee, is leading the march.
Also joining and leading the march in support of the program are Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, along with leaders and activists at various levels from the 11-party alliance.
After the march, participants will gather again in front of the national parliament building. From there, leaders will submit a memorandum to the speaker.
Earlier, the program’s organizing committee had called on people across the country, regardless of political affiliation, to take part spontaneously. The 11-party alliance also called for the program to succeed.
