Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has ordered Ferdousi Ahmed Mishti, a BNP member of parliament in a reserved women’s seat, to resign. The instruction was delivered to her in writing. She is accused of involvement in the attack, looting and vandalism at the Radda MCH-FP centre in Mirpur in the capital.
The Radda MCH-FP centre at Mirpur-1 was attacked, vandalised and looted around midnight on September 24, and the health centre’s building was later demolished. Mishti was accused of involvement but has denied any role in the attack. The allegation is under investigation.
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said on Wednesday that no one would be spared if the investigation finds evidence of involvement.
Meanwhile, the BNP has taken several organisational steps. On Wednesday, the 51-member convening committee of BNP’s Dhaka Metropolitan North unit was dissolved, along with the Dhaka Metropolitan North Jubo Dal committee. Organisational action has also been taken against several leaders of the BNP and its associate bodies at various levels.
