Rupganj police arrest three, including woman, with 76kg of cannabis

Police in Rupganj, Narayanganj, have arrested three drug dealers, including a woman, seizing 51 yaba tablets, 10 grams of heroin and 76 kilograms of cannabis during anti-narcotics operations.

They were arrested early Tuesday morning, August 25, in the Murapara, Chanpara and Chhotobaniyadi areas of the upazila.

Those arrested are Riku Akter, 29, wife of Monir Hossain, alias Dibba Monir, of the Chhoto Baniyadi area, Murapara union, Rupganj upazila; Abdul Mannan, 39, son of the late Meher Ali Munshi of the Krishnanagar area, Zajira police station, Shariatpur district; and Delwar Hossain, 36, son of the late Rahom Akon Mia of the same area. Abdul Mannan and Delwar Hossain have long lived as tenants at the home of a man identified as Fakir Ali in Rupganj.

A.H.M. Salauddin, officer-in-charge of the police station, said: “Separate teams from Rupganj police carried out the operations based on intelligence tips. Among those arrested, Abdul Mannan and Delwar Hossain face multiple existing cases at Rupganj and other police stations.”
