The Cabinet Division has asked that the honorifics “Your Excellency” and “Honorable” no longer be used before the titles of the president, prime minister, ministers and state ministers in official correspondence and documents. It has also barred the written use of any other honorific terms.
The decision was announced Wednesday in a Cabinet Division circular. All government ministries, divisions and their subordinate offices have been asked to implement the decision immediately.
The circular said the government has decided that the terms “Your Excellency” or “Honorable” may no longer be written before the titles of the president, prime minister, ministers, state ministers and deputy ministers in state work and official documents.
The order has been directed to take effect from Wednesday.
