To improve muezzins’ correct pronunciation of the azan and iqamah, their melody and vocal skills, and to develop their personality, religious knowledge and proficiency in operating modern sound systems, As-Sunnah Dawah and Research Institute is holding its second 10-day “Muezzin Training Program.” The program will emphasize improving muezzins’ professional and personal skills while shaping them into model muezzins.
Organizers said the training will cover the correct and precise pronunciation of every word of the azan and iqamah, related religious rulings, and practice of traditional Madinah and Egyptian melodic styles.
The training will also cover voice care, special exercises for breath control and maintaining pitch, tarbiyah, personality development, the qualities of a model muezzin, communication and negotiation skills, and the technical aspects of operating modern sound systems. Sessions on ruqyah and parenting will also be included.
The training will be completely free of charge. Selected trainees will receive quality accommodation and meals, along with travel expense reimbursement, a certificate upon completion, and personal evaluation and mentoring from skilled and experienced trainers.
Interested applicants must apply by Sept. 17. Preliminarily selected candidates will be informed by phone and called for an oral examination (viva) on Sept. 19.
The training will run from Sept. 20 to 29, 2026. Classes will be held daily from Saturday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with Friday off. Both residential and non-residential options are available, though organizers say seats are limited.
Those currently working as muezzins are eligible to apply. Applications require a certification letter from the relevant mosque committee.
Applicants must also be a hafiz of the Quran, or have passed Nahbemir or Dakhil from an Alia madrasa. Having a melodic voice and the ability to master it is mandatory. Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old.
