Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, has said the United States is “begging” its allies for help following its defeat. He made the comment in a post on social media platform X on Thursday.

US President Donald Trump has declared an unprecedented economic war against Iran. He has also warned that countries that assist Iran or conduct business with it will face “severe economic consequences.”

Following Trump’s threat, Gharibabadi wrote in a post on X: “They [the United States] claim Iran is on the verge of defeat, hanging by a thread, yet they’re begging all their allies for help!”

He added: “Military war produced no results, so now they’ve given their next failure the name ‘economic war.'”

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said US President Donald Trump’s newly declared economic war would bring Washington yet another defeat. He also said Trump’s declaration would deepen anti-American sentiment among Iranians.

In a post on the US social media platform X on Thursday, Araghchi said: “The so-called ‘economic D-Day’ is, in reality, a tactic to divert attention from the United States’ own crisis. The country’s debt has reached unprecedented levels, and interest costs are rising rapidly as well.”
