Iran’s army chief, Major General Amir Hatami, has announced a $30,000 (roughly 3.3 million taka) reward for capturing or killing members of the US military accused of aggression against Iranian territory. He disclosed this unusual initiative on Sunday, saying the fund would be financed by ordinary Iranian citizens. The claim could not be independently verified.
Iran’s WANA news agency reported that Major General Hatami said the reward fund was established to encourage members of the forces tasked with defending the country’s sovereignty.
Major General Hatami said the fund was created through contributions from ordinary citizens motivated by their love for Iran. Any member of Iran’s armed forces who captures alive or eliminates a US soldier who has unlawfully entered Iranian territory or launched an attack will receive this $30,000 reward on behalf of the public.
Iran’s armed forces remain on maximum alert amid potential US action against Iranian territory and military security. International analysts believe the army chief’s remarks will further heighten tensions between the US and Iran in the Middle East.
