Police have recovered the decomposed body of an unidentified young man from inside an abandoned building at Madhabpur upazila health complex in Habiganj. Police recovered the body Monday afternoon after being alerted. The identity of the deceased has not yet been established.

Dr Imrul Hasan, Health and Family Planning Officer at Madhabpur upazila health complex, said hospital cleaning staff went to clean an abandoned building inside the health complex Monday morning. There, they found the body of a young man inside the building. The body had been there for an extended period. The matter was then reported to police, who recovered the body from the scene.

Sub-Inspector Pradip Chandra Sarkar of Madhabpur police station said the body’s condition suggests the death may have occurred roughly a month ago. He said the incident is initially believed to be a suicide, though the exact cause of death can only be confirmed once the post-mortem report is received.

Madhabpur Police Station OC Sohel Rana said the body had decomposed significantly due to the extended time it had been there. Police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue at Habiganj Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination. Efforts are underway to identify the deceased. The exact cause of death will be confirmed once the post-mortem report is received.
