50,000 primary teachers to be appointed within three months, minister says

A case involving 32,000 primary head teachers will be resolved on July 2, and after that 50,000 teachers can be appointed to the country’s government primary schools within the next three months, the Minister for Education and Primary and Mass Education, Dr A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon, has said.

He gave the information on Monday (June 22) as chief guest at the 20th founding anniversary of Noakhali Science and Technology University and a ceremony to present the Deans’ and Vice-Chancellor’s Awards.

The minister said that, because of the ongoing case over head teachers, 32,000 of the country’s 65,000 head teachers were not receiving promotion. After he raised the matter in parliament, it had come to the court’s notice, he said, and it would be resolved on July 2. As a result, another 50,000 primary teachers could be appointed within the next three months, he said.
