BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tareque Rahman planted a tree at Zia Uddyan in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar and released fish into Crescent Lake to mark the party’s 48th founding anniversary.
On Tuesday, immediately after paying floral tribute at the graves of President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, the party chairman first planted a tree at Zia Uddyan, then released fish into Crescent Lake.
Also present were Standing Committee members, acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, joint secretary general Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, and publicity secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, among others.
Tuesday’s program began at dawn with the raising of the national and party flags at the central office in Naya Paltan and at the chairman’s office in Gulshan.
BNP has announced a five-day central program to mark the founding anniversary. The program includes tree planting, fish release and discussion sessions.
At 11:30 a.m., acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi inaugurated a free medical camp organized by the Doctors’ Association of Bangladesh (DAB) on the ground floor of the central office in Naya Paltan. DAB President Professor Harun Al Rashid and Secretary General Zahirul Islam Shakil were present.
BNP was formed on September 1, 1978. Ziaur Rahman was the party’s first chairman.
